Goodbye ‘07
There are only a few more hours left in the year 2007. Upon reflection, I have learned a lot this year; about myself and others and I hope to take what I have learned with me into the next year. I wish a happy and better new year to my friends and acquaintances including but not limited to (in no particular order); Ernest, Jean, Stanley, Nitza, Christine Isabel, Gioia, Imani, Jen, Ralp, Mario, Cliff, Andrea, Barbara, Ed, George, Jessica, Caren, Kamille (love you, sis), Nicole, and Kellan. I love you all.
This year brought some great entertainment. In television, Heroes concluded it’s second season, which I agree could have been better but was still entertaining. I also finished Weeds season two last weekend and started season three. South Park ended and began a season (Imagination Land Trilogy, lol). And I’m happy that Dexter got away with murder in season two. Anime was more than satisfying with series like Death Note, Darker Than Black, and Claymore. Bleach continued, mostly with filler before continuing the main story. And what about movies? Well, a few were released in 2007 including Transformers (live action), Spiderman 3, Live Free of Die Hard (Die Hard 4), I Am Legend, and Halloween (remake) as well as some more that escape me now. There are also some great games that came out this year; Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Crackdown, The Orange Box, and Bioshock. Once XBL engineers fix account recovery, I’ll be back on. Music had its ups and downs. Notable mentions include Pharaoh Monch’s Desire, Wu-Tang Clan’s 8 Diagrams, CunninLynguist’s Dirty Acres, Blockhead’s Uncle Tony’s Coloring Book (gotta check this one out), El-P’s I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead, and Aesop Rock’s None Shall Pass. (I’ll be looking out for hiphopsite.com’s best/worst list of 2007.) I also got a chance to check out a few kick ass concerts (RJD2, El-P, and Aesop Rock).
I wasn’t able to travel that much year but managed to make it out to Pennsylvania a few times, which was enjoyable. Hopefully, I’ll be taking many more trips next year. I am serious about Japan, Ernie & Jean.
To those that have passed on, rest in peace (Bernard McAllister & Kamille’s Grandmother).
I was never keen on New Year’s resolutions, however there are a few things I would like to change. One is the health/ weight cliche (lose 20 lbs., three months as a vegetarian so far). I hope to finish more books this year (19 pages away from finishing Stephen Batchelor’s Buddhism Without Beliefs). I also want to spend more time with my friends, finish building my computer (yes, the same project I’ve been working on unnecessarily all year), sell my comic books (boxes and boxes), and start taking Graduate School classes for School Psychology.
I’ll never burn bridges, just close them for repairs.
So, goodbye 2007. The year was good and here’s hoping for a better future.
Peace.
